The Virginia Telemental Health Initiative (VTMHI) is seeking licensed volunteers (LCSW, LPC, LMFT) to provide pro bono telemental health services to patients of participating free and charitable clinics. If you are pursuing licensure, click here.

VTMHI is especially in need of:

  • volunteers who can flex weekly appointment times to support patients with variable schedules
  • therapists experienced working with
    • immigrant and refugee communities
    • trauma-informed practice
    • co-occurring conditions
    • complex social drivers of health needs
    • patients in need of support to address substance use disorder and/or anger management
  • providers with daytime availability

Additional volunteer opportunities include serving as a medical interpreter or a clinical supervisor. All volunteer positions are fully remote and offer flexible scheduling during clinic hours, evenings, and weekends.

Commitment: All volunteers are expected to see at least 2-3 patients per week via telehealth for 6+ months (approx. 3-4 hours per week). Serving for at least one year is strongly preferred.
