I became a mental health professional to be the kind of helper I wanted when I was going through my own challenges. I wanted to do work that makes a positive impact directly on the people I serve. I believe our problems are influenced by the inequities around us, and I draw from existential theory and finding meaning in our lives and choices.  

I got involved with VTMHI because I believe in volunteer service and equal access to care. I hope I can help patients see that they are not alone.

Residents in Counseling support mental and emotional health by helping people develop strategies and solutions to life’s challenges – they have completed their education and practice under supervision until fully licensed.
