Laura Alm

Resident in Counseling

Pronouns: She/Her
Supervisor: Maria Baggot LPC, CSAC, CSOTP

I became a counselor because I experienced first-hand how receiving empathy and nonjudgmental understanding from another person can have a truly healing and strengthening impact in one’s life. My greatest privilege as a therapist is to provide a safe, compassionate space for people to feel supported, seen, valued, and empowered in their journeys towards their goals. My therapeutic approaches include Person-Centered Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Trauma-Informed Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and Narrative Therapy. I have a heart for working with individuals who are affected by relational trauma, as well as past or present emotional abuse or neglect.

Supporting and advocating for people who may be experiencing challenges or barriers to mental health care is important to me, and I am excited to work with VTMHI in providing inclusive and accessible telemental health care to Virginians.
