Hello I am Akilah Gaines, a LCSW Supervisee. I am excited to partner with VTMHI to provide a service to others. I have over two decades of experience working with children and families of various populations within the academic setting and in the community. Some of my community experiences include in-home counseling, parenting education, and psychoeducational courses. Within the academic setting, I have provided behavioral and mental health support to students. I have also worked with military families as a New Parent Support Home Visitor, to provide parenting education. I received my Bachelor of Social Work from Virginia Commonwealth University and my Masters of Clinical Social Work from Adelphi University. I am passionate about empowering others using a holistic approach while implementing evidence-based practices.
